4:23 - Jesus
Teaches, Preaches and Heals -
Jesus Christ goes through out
the Galilee to the
Gentiles
Teaching, Preaching for people to repent, and that there is
good news, hope for them, if
they do
repent, and in this
Jesus also heals many of people to where the word of that spreads to all of the
regions.
b) Matthew
4:24-25 - The People
Comes to Jesus - With
Jesus healing people the word of
that spread like
wild fire,
there were many who were in need of healing, so the people started coming
to Jesus for healing
instead of
Jesus having to go to them, the
people were desperate, in need &
hurting.
12) Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount - Matthew
5:1:1-2 -
a) Matthew
5:1-2 - Jesus
Begins To Teach the People -
Since there was a great
multitudes of people, our
Lord
Jesus Christ went up a mountain because a voice in the
Mountain would echo to which
would make
it much easier for
the people to be able to hear him, and there they listened to him. Jesus wisdom and
knowledge shines fourth.

5:3 - Blessed
The Poor in Spirit -
- This is the believers to which
walks in humility realizing that
they are not deserving of salvation, that they are wretched
people by all measures,
that they only deserve hell
rather than heaven, and these
are those that does receive \the
blessing of the new covenant (Salvation)
and will see the glory of God
revealed to them with his holy
truths that they will learn and
know him more than anyone on
earth.
b)) Matthew
5:4 - Blessed
They That Mourn -
These are those who grieve over
their sinful condition, over
their lack of spiritual life because of their sins, their weak flesh that has separated
them selves from the
blessings
of God, that holds back their
relationship with him. As Jesus
said; the flesh is weak, but the
spirit is willing. But those
believers who mourn God will
bless them by comforting them,
and reinsuring
them of his grace
& mercy, of their salvation.
They also mourn over the wicked
conditions of this world as
well
for it is all darkness.
c) Matthew
5:5 - Blessed
Are the Meek - This is no way means weak, as our Lord Jesus
Christ was not
weak , he was meek, and meek in the dictionary actually means a mildness, a quietness in
nature as we all
should be, and
not prideful or arrogant to
which is the total opposite of "MEEK". So the believers that has a mildness and quietness of nature,
they will inherit the earth to
which actually means, our
spiritual good, to be over
comers of this wicked world, to
not give into its lust and
desires, as many people do.
So
in a sense we have conquered
this world, i.e. inherited it as
far as not being of this world
even though
we are in this
world.
Definition of Meekness -
(From Easton's Bible Dictionary)
— a calm temper of mind, not easily
provoked (James
3:13).Peculiar
promises are made to the meek (Matthew
5:5; Isaiah 66:2).
The cultivation of this spirit is enjoined (Colossians 3:12; 1 Timothy 6:11; Zephaniah 2:3),
and is exemplified
in Christ (Matthew
11:29), Abraham (Genesis
13; 16:5,6) Moses (Numbers
12:3), David
(Zechariah
12:8; 2 Samuel 16:10,12),
and Paul (1 Corinthians 9:19).
d) Matthew
5:6 - Blessed,
They that Hunger & Thirst for
Righteousness -
These believers will strongly
desire the things of God the will of God and his Holy Ways. They will also desire to live
pure, Holy and
righteous lives
in every way possible. They
will also have a deep longing to
be with God in Jesus Christ in
his eternal dwelling. And those
who desire such things shall be
filled as being content in their
spiritual lives, in their every
day lives, they will not longer
be in desire the things of this
wicked world because of their
desires of righteousness and
Holiness, to where the affairs
of this world will no longer be
of importance to them.
e) Matthew
5:7 - Blessed
are the Merciful -
These believer here are those
who shows mercy to others and
there are many ways of showing mercy such as mercy to those who sins against us,
does us wrong, or
showing mercy
to the poor, to the oppressed,
to those who are hurting,
grieving and so on. This is a
condition of the heart, the
heart towards others in their
times of need, i.e. compassion.
And those who
shows mercy WILL
receive Mercy from God, so IF we
show mercy to others, God
himself will show us
mercy as
well to which we do not deserve.
f) Matthew
5:8 - Blessed
are the Pure in Heart -
These believer must have a pure
heart, a undefiled heart, a
heart that is not corrupt, vengeful or full of hate, but must be a
heart of love, kindness, and
seek the good of others more
than that of their selves, they
must not be oppressive towards
others or a lack of compassion
towards the poor, the widow, the
orphans, or those who are in their times of need, such as sorrow,
depression
and so on. If they have a pure
heart they will see God, in
other words God will abide in
them, since those with a pure
heart abides in God, in Jesus
Christ.
g) Matthew
5:9 - Blessed
Are The Peacemakers -
These believers seek peace, and
not debates, not strife or
divisions but peace, in so that unity among their families,
congregations, communities,
companies and even the
governments may be achieved.
These are not those who acts out
of rage nor anger, in their
communications with others, even
when others may not be interested in making peace, the believer
seeks
the good of the whole but
only according to Gods Holy
Words and his Holy Truths. They that are peace
makers
rather than causing strife are
called the sons of God, the
children of God, they are of God.
g) Matthew
5:10 - Blessed
Those that are Persecuted -
Those who try to live Godly
lives, that separate
their
selves from the world and its wicked ways, that share their
faith with others will be
persecuted in one form or
another, they will be excluded, hated, and treated as they are the
holier than thy at least, if not
also called every dirty name in
the book, kept from job opportunities and so on. And they that
are persecuted will achieve
salvation, "The Kingdom of God"
and God via Jesus Christ will abide in them and they in him.
i) Matthew
5:11-12 - Rejoice
and Be Exceedingly Glad -
But do not fret over the
persecution that you
receive for
this verifies that you are of Gods truths, a disciple of Jesus Christ, and that
you are just as
persecuted as
they did Gods prophets and
disciples, apostles etc. But if
the world likes you is when you
really should world for you are
like the world instead of like
Jesus Christ who was hated and
still is hated by most of the
world!

5:13a - Being
Salty We are Called to Ministry
- With becoming Born Again
(Saved)
(John
3:1-10)
we through the Holy Spirit become salty, with love towards
Christ and our fellow mankind
(Romans
12:10),
we become a new creation, the old person is gone (2
Corinthians 5:17-18)
we are no
longer worldly seeking
after the things of this wicked
world (Titus 2:11-12)! Instead of you being worldly,
you will be
spiritual and bless the word!
And so it is for that very
reason that we are called to serve Jesus Christ Kingdom, to
work in Ministry
(Ephesians 4:11-16), to be part of the Body of Jesus Christ, to be a arm, a hand or such
(1
Corinthians 12:21-31)
build his Church up according to
their talents, abilities (Matthew 25:14-30) and
especially spiritual gifts that he has given us (1
Corinthians 12:1-11)
. They are not to be used for
selfish
reasons (Philippians 2:3-4).
b) Matthew
5:13b
- Do
Not Become Worldly -
But if you who were once salty,
Light of Christ
(Matthew 5:14) , loses that Salt (that light), in other words like Lots wife that
looked back (Genesis 19:26)
to what she loved like you look back after putting your hand to
the plow (Luke
9:62. By
doing that ,you
become worldly
with all of its desires and
lust, and you become what you once were! You not be able to
bless others
since you did not remain in
Jesus Christ (John 15:4) .
You can not bear fruit without
Jesus Christ (John 15:4)! You then will no longer be useful to Jesus Christ
and His
Kingdom, his Church. The Body of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 12:13-14).
And if you no longer are
useful
that is a worthy servant (Matthew
10:37-38)
then you are no longer fit for service to Jesus Christ for
his church "The Body of Jesus Christ, your only option left is
to be cast into hell, (Lose your salvation) for
you will be salted with fire rather salt (Mark
9:49)!
BEWARE Do Not Lose Your Saltiness because of your sin, your
worldliness!
As Matthew
Henry's Commentary Puts
it; Matthew
5:13-16
2. If they be not, they are as salt that has lost
its savor. If
you, who should season others,
are yourselves
unsavory, void
of spiritual life,
relish, and vigour; if a Christian be so, especially if a minister be so, his
condition is very sad; for,
(1.) He is irrecoverable:
Wherewith shall it be salted Salt is a remedy for
unsavory meat,
but there is no remedy for unsavory salt. Christianity
will give a man a relish;
but if a
man can take up
and continue the profession of it, and yet remain flat and foolish, and
graceless and insipid, no other doctrine, no other means, can be applied, to make him
savory.
If Christianity do
not do it,
nothing
will.
(2.) He is unprofitable:
It is thenceforth good for nothing;
what use can it be put to, in which
it will not
do more hurt
than good? As a man without reason, so is a
Christian without grace. A wicked man is
the worst of creatures; a
wicked Christian is the worst of men;
and a
wicked minister is the worst of
Christians.
(3.) He is doomed to ruin and rejection; He shall
be cast
out—expelled
the church and
the communion of the faithful, to which he is a
blot and a
burden;
and he
shall
be trodden
under foot of men. Let
God be glorified in the shame and rejection
of those by whom
he
has
been reproached, and who have made
themselves fit for nothing but to be trampled upon.
BEWARE: Do not Practice Sin! as Apostle Paul said 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Do
you not know that the
wicked will not
inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually
immoral nor idolaters
nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes
nor
homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor
the greedy nor drunkards
nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit
the kingdom of God.11 And
that is what some of you
were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit
of our God.
c) Matthew
5:14-16
- Be
Bold with your Christian Faith
- As followers, disciples of
Jesus Christ we are
his light, that represents Jesus Christ. The world is watching our behavior, our
conduct, our deeds of
goodness,
love and kindness in our every
day lives, if we be at work, at
school, at home or at play. Of
course that is if they know that we are Christians that we DO NOT
hide the fact that we are
Christians.
If we do hide the
fact that we are Christians,
that means we are ashamed of
Jesus Christ and he will be
ashamed of us before God (Matthew
8:38).
And furthermore if we hide the
fact that we are Christians we
will be like that person with
the one talent that
did NOTHING
with the masters money (Matthew
25:24-25),
so with that you will lose your
salvation
(Matthew 25:26-30)!

5:17 - Jesus
Christ Did Not Destroy the Laws
or Prophets - 1) Jesus
Christ did not come to
dissolve,
or to violate the law and the prophets, he obeyed them so he
can be the perfect sacrificial
lamb
(1
Peter 1:19-21)
to which he was crucified during the pass over (Matthew 26:1 to
which that is the time
that the sacrificial lamb had to
be slain Exodus 12:1-51. 2) Now Jesus Christ fulfilled the law for it is
love,
his love for us that
fulfills the law (Matthew 22:39, John 15:12-14, Romans 13:10,
Galatians 5:14).
We must remember that Jesus Christ himself was born under the
law (Galatians 4:4-5). 3) If
Jesus Christ
came to destroy,
get rid of the laws and
prophets, to which he did not,
he would have destroyed the
Laws of Love, to which that is what all of the laws and prophets are all
about, Love God and Love
Neighbor (MT
22:37-40).
As Jesus Christ said ALL
OF THE LAWS AND PROPHETS HANG ON
THESE 2 COMMANDMENTS (Matthew
22:40)!
Jesus Christ is against those
that try's to weaken the OT laws
and Prophets as it is
written as
Apostle Paul says; 2
Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for
teaching,
rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that
the man of God may
be thoroughly equipped for every good
work.
b) Matthew

Prophets Remains Until the
Earth/Heaven Pass Away 1) There
will be
a New Heaven & New Earth (2
Peter 3:13, Revelations 21:21) after
the old Heaven and Earth passes
away. 2) So in this it appears to me, that "everything is
accomplished" means all of the
prophecies, that \is all of
Gods plans from the beginning to
the end of this world and the current heaven!
c) Matthew
5:19 - The
Greatest Teaches the
Commandments of God - 1) Here it seems that Jesus Christ
is telling his
Disciples (and us) to carefully preserve the law, and do not reject then. And
if they do neglect the
law they
will have no place of honor in
heaven. He doesn't say or
suggest that they will go to
hell though. 2) But
if they do teach and practice
the laws of God they will be
great in heaven and have a high
place of honor!
3) For if we love God we will keep his
commandments (1John 5:2-5, Matthew 8:28, John 12:48, 15:7, Revelations 12:17, 14:12)
d) Matthew
5:20 - Our
Righteousness Must be Better

obeyed the letter of the law yet neglected the Love, the spirit of the law
to which they did not. , To
which
they had no righteousness,
not without faith and not
without love towards God and
Love towards Neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40)! 2) But let us not repeat the same
wickedness of the Jews, instead
let us obey the spirit of Gods
Laws, The "LAWS
of LOVE!" (Matthew 22:37-40)! Let
all that we say and do come from a
sincere
heart, not
selfish, not greedy, but for our
Love for God and our Love for
our fellowman! (Romans 13:8, Philippians 2:3) So that we too may fulfill the law, that is the
law of Jesus Christ (Romans
13:10).

5:21 - The Danger
of Judgment -
In times of Old to which is
still in effect in our times,
that if a
person commits the physical act of
murder,
(Illegally Killing Someone) that
they will be in danger of
Judgment, that is God sends them to Hell.
That is one of the Ten commandments, "You Shall Not Murder"
(Exodus 20:13, Dt 5:17).
Lets now look at the definition
of Murder to find out what it
means. This does not refer to
accidentally or in self defense,
or in combat or police work of
killing someone.
(Definition of Murder) - Easton's
Bible Dictionary -
— Willful murder was distinguished from accidental homicide, and was
invariably visited with capital
punishment (Numbers 35:16,18,21,31; Leviticus 24:17).
This law in its principle is
founded on the fact of
man's
having been made in the likeness
of God (Genesis
9:5,6; John 8:44; 1 John 3:12,15). The Mosaic
law prohibited any compensation for murder or the reprieve of
the
murderer (Exodus 21:12,14; Deuteronomy 19:11,13; 2 Samuel 17:25; 20:10).
Two witnesses were required in
any capital case (Numbers 35:19-30; Deuteronomy 17:6-12).
If the
murderer could not be
discovered, the city nearest the
scene of the murder
was required to make expiation for the crime
committed (Deuteronomy
21:1-9).
These offences also were to be
punished with death, (1) striking
a parent; (2) cursing
a parent; (3) kidnapping
(Exodus
21:15-17; Deuteronomy 27:16).
Also according to other dictionaries Murder was "ILLEGALLY" killing
some one. A person can legally
kill some one in cases of self
defense, or serving in the
military, to kill a enemy or in
some cases to protect
some one
else from being killed
"Murdered".
b) Matthew
5:22a - Angry
without a Cause (See KJV) -
This is a to be angry with
another without a just and
righteous cause, as what is right and wrong according to God,, a
biblical cause. There are 2
types of anger;
1) sinful anger such as a unjust, out of a wrong heart, a wrong idea or a wrong motive. if you do not
have a reason or a just reason (Genesis 49:7, Ephesians 4:31, Colossians 3:8)
or a 2) righteous
anger as Jesus and God has
display's at time against
wickedness, against hypocrites
and sin etc's (Exodus
4:14, 32:10, Numbers 25:3, Dt
4:25, 9:19, Matthew 3:7, Luke
21:23, Romans 1:18, 2:5, 2:8,
Ephesians 5:6,
Revelations
6:16-18).......
We are not allowed to be angry
just because we feel like it, we
must use self control in this
area. Those that are angry
without a just cause are in
danger of hell. Or in Jewish
cases the way their laws work in
the Jewish courts. Don't Forget
that Jesus Christ got very
angry, a righteous anger with
the Pharisees (Matthew
23:13-30)
c) Matthew
5:22b -Having Contempt, Calling someone Fools or Reca
(Stupid) is forbidden -
According to
Jesus Christ that having such contempt for others to the point that
we call them something like
stupid etc is pretty serous to
which in those days of Israel you would be taken to the government, the counsel,
the
Sanhedrin. Also as written on Judgment day we will be held
accountable for every idle word
that we
speak (Matthew
12:36).
Out of the heart the mouth speak
to which comes murder (Matthew 12:34) for the tongue is like a two edge
sword, for
the mouth cuts deep into the
persons heart that we are
speaking to! A practice of this sort of talk
towards others can put a person in
hell since the practice displays
anger, and hatred in a unjust
manner
regardless of how much
they say they believe in Jesus
Christ! Now Barnes Commentary
Notes explains the meaning of
this part of the verse, and word Reca very well.
FROM BARNES COMMENTARY NOTES; Matthew 5:22 [Raca] This is a
Syriac word,
expressive
of great contempt.
It comes from a verb signifying to be empty, vain;
and hence, as a word of contempt,
denotes senseless, stupid,
shallow-brains. Jesusteaches here that
to use such words is a violation of the
spirit of the
sixth commandment, and if indulged, may lead to a more open and dreadful infraction of that
law. Children should learn that to use such words is
highly offensive to God, for we mustgive an account
for every idle word which
we speak in the day of judgment, Matthew
12:36.
From MSN DICTIONARY Definition of Contempt con·tempt [kən

attitude of utter disgust
or hatred: a powerful feeling of dislike toward

to be worthless, inferior,
or
undeserving of respect
d) Matthew
5:23-24 - Make Peace
with your Brother -
If we bring our gift to the
alter and we remember that
our
brother has something against us, our gift is of no value to God until we
reconcile with our brother, make
peace with our brother, and then
our gift will be acceptable to
the Lord. So let us be at peace
with each other. in truth and in
Gods Love (Mark 9:50, Romans 12:8, 14:19, 1 Corinthians 6:15, 14:33, 2
Corinthians 13:11). This may even mean to forgo our own rights, our own ways and
pride, in order to remain at
peace with others, and others at
peace with us.
e) Matthew
5:25-26 - Settle
Matters with your Adversary
Quickly -
If anyone has something against
you,
that they want to either sue you or press criminal charges you
should settle the matter out of
court, so that our adversary
don' t continue with legal action against us. The judge may be
much harsher on us than a
settlement out of court would
be. And then our adversary may
even have our wages garnished or
put us in prison, or we may be
ordered to pay even more out of
our pockets to our adversary through the court system
(Luke
12:57-59).
In that it will also honor and
glorify God rather than disgrace
God before mankind.

5:27-28 - Inward
Acts of Adultery -
Jesus first covers the old
testament commandment, "Do not
Commit Adultery"
(Exodus 20:14, Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy5:18)
is a outward act, a physical
action, but it does not cover
the heart itself, the inward act, nor does it give man power to
overcome the temptation of
lusting after the opposite sex.
So Jesus Christ goes deeper than the Law states by covering the
heart, the inward acts
adultery, of Lust to which a
inward act of Adultery.
Lust of the Heart is committed when we look at others with lust
in our hearts, when we focus and
think about sexual things
regarding a person that we are
not married to. the practice of
Adultery, of Lust from the heart
itself does send people to hell
regardless of how much they say
they believe in Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:23) Matthew 13:41, 15:18-20, Acts 21:25, Galatians 5:19-21),.
Even the demons believe there is
one God (James 2:19).
b) Matthew
5:29-30 - Causes of
Sin -
We must shut our senses off from
temptations of adultery, of
lust, that
can cause us to
sin and even lead us to hell. We must flee from temptation (1
Corinthians 6:18, James 4:7).
We must not be given into the
sins of adultery, of lust, if it
be our eyes, our hands, or any
other body part and even our
hearts that tempts us to sin, in
order to save our souls from
hell (Matthew 5:30).. I must also note that
lusting after others
that we are not married to does
usually lead to unfaithfulness
and then divorce!
c) Definition
of Adultery - Easton's Bible Dictionary - Adultery — conjugal infidelity. An adulterer was a
man who
had illicit
intercourse with a married or
a betrothed woman, and such a
woman was an adulteress.
Intercourse between a married man and an unmarried woman was fornication. Adultery was regarded as
a great social wrong, as
well as a great sin.
The Mosaic law (Numbers 5:11-31)
prescribed that the suspected wife should be tried
by the ordeal of the
"water of jealousy."
There is, however, no
recorded
instance of the
application of this law. In
a subsequent times
the Rabbis made various regulations with the view of discovering the guilty party, and of
bringing about a
divorce. It has
been inferred from John 8:1-11that this sin became very common during
the age preceding
the destruction of Jerusalem.
Idolatry, covetousness,
and apostasy are
spoken of as adultery spiritually (Jeremiah 3:6,8,9; Ezekiel 16:32;
Hosea 1:1:2:3;Revelation
2:22).
An apostate church is
an adulteress (Isaiah
1:21; Ezekiel 23:4,7,37),
and the Jews are styled "an adulterousgeneration"
(Matthew
12:39).
(Comp. Revelation 12.)
d) Definition
of Fornication - Nelson's Bible Dictionary - FORNICATION [for nih
KAY shun] — sexual
relationships
outside the
bonds of
marriage.
The technical distinction
between fornication and
ADULTERY is that adultery involves married persons while fornication involves those who are unmarried. But the New
Testament often uses the term in
a general sense
for any
unchastity. Of the seven
lists of sins found in the writings
of the apostle Paul, the word
fornication is found in
five of them and is first on the list each time (1
Corinthians 5:11; Colossians 3:5). In the Book
of
Revelation,
fornication R is
symbolic of how idolatry and pagan religion defiles
true worship of God (Revelation 14:8; 17:4).

that in
the beginning divorce was not allowed, but later on
because of the hardness of the
Jewish Hearts as
punishment to
the Jews and their families, households without both
parents in the home, Moses
allowed the Jews to divorce (Deuteronomy

for any reason. In allowing
that anything goes type of

b) Definition
of Divorce - Nelson's Bible Dictionary - DIVORCE - The
legal dissolution of a marriage.
The divine ideal for marriage is clearly a lifelong bond that
unites husband and wife in a "one
flesh"
relationship (Matthew
19:5).
The marriage union is a holy condition founded by
God and is not to be dissolved at the will of
man (Matthew
19:6). Separations of this
bond displease God and
pose a serious
threat to the social order:
"And let none deal treacherously
with the wife of his
youth. For the Lord
God of Israel says that He
hates divorce, for it covers one's garments with violence"
(Malachi
2:15-16).
c) Matthew
5:32a - Divorce
Only Allowed because of Sexual
Immorality -
Jesus tells us that he allows
only
one reason for
divorce, that is for sexual immorality such as porn, lusting after
other women, , that is
unfaithfulness from his heart,
(adultery), and this can even
mean sex beyond the normal realm
of intimacy such as overly wild
sex, that is outside of purity,
that is using so-called adult
sex toys and such to which
defiles the marriage, the
marriage bed (Hebrews 13:4-5).
KEEP THE MARRIAGE BED PURE! As it is written; Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should
be honored by
all,
and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the
sexually immoral. 5 Keep
your lives free from
the love of money and be content with what you have, because
God has
said,
GOD HATES DIVORCE! as
it is written; Malachi 2:16 "I hate divorce," says the Lord God of Israel,
"and I
hate a man's covering him self with violence
as well as with his
garment,"
says the Lord Almighty.
FROM Nelsons Bible Dictionary; Definition
of ADULTERY Willful sexual intercourse with someone
other than one's husband or wife. Jesus expanded the meaning of adultery to
include the cultivation of lust: "Whoever looks at a
woman to lust
for herhas already committed adultery with
her in his heart" (Matthew 5:28).In the Ten
Commandments God emphatically prohibitedadultery when He said, "You shall not commit adultery"
(Exodus 20:14).
Under Mosaic Law, when a
couple was caught in the act of
adultery,
both parties were to be
killed (Deuteronomy
22:22).
d) Matthew
5:32b - Living
in Adultery, Living in Sin -
If we divorce our wife for any
reason except if she
was unfaithful or if a
non-believer walks out (1
Corinthians 7:15)
not only does he himself commits
sin, but he also cause his wife
to commit sin and also causes
anyone who marries her to also
commit sin as well. Divorce is
a major domino effect, and then
there are the children that
suffer, the grandparents also
suffer, and the list just goes
on and on. That is why in
today's times it is getting
harder and harder to find anyone
that has not been divorced at
least 2 to 3 times or more. It
seems now a days divorce is a
hobby rather than a disaster
that it truly is!

See > 1 Corinthians 7:15 - One
other reason a Divorce is
allowed -
I must not forget GOD
HATES
DIVORCE! I decided since there is no such much confusion
in the Christian Community
regarding marriage and divorce
is to go ahead and add this scripture in this current
related study note for my
learning. I know the
first
reason Jesus allowed divorce is due to sexual immorality and the
second reason Paul allowed
divorce is if a Believer is
married Christian is married to a non-believer and the non-believer
walks out of the marriage. If
that happens to a believer the
believer is allowed to remarry since Christians are not bound
(tied to by Marriage) in such
matters. But a Believer is not
allowed
to walk out of any marriage except if the Believers spouse is
unfaithful sexual immoral (Matthew 5:31-32).

5:33-37 -

Smith's
Bible Dictionary,
a) Matthew
5:33 - Do
not Swear falsely -
In times of old, the people were
told not to swear falsely, to
lie, to
bear false witness,
regarding their oaths, their promises, for example; I swear to God
that I will not allow my cattle
on your land. This is a rough
example of what the scripture is
about.
b) Matthew
5:34-36 - Do not
Swear at all -
The reason why Jesus told us not
to swear at all, if it be false
or
true is that, it is
very for us imperfect people to keep our oaths, even if our intent
is sincere and honest. Things
come up and change many times
over, or that we may
misunderstand the situations,
that can cause our oaths to be
broken even though we intended
to keep our oaths. So in that is
why we should not swear by God,
his throne, or of heaven etc.
If our oaths are not kept to the
letter that would disgrace God,
heaven or what ever or who
ever
we swore by. And with that we do
not own anything, not even our
own Bodies, not we can not swear
against or for anything that we
do not own.
c) Matthew
5:37 - Our words
be Yes, Or No -
So instead of swearing when we
are asked something we either
just simply say
yes or no, without swearing. As Believers in Jesus Christ, we can
say either yes we will tell the
truth, or no we wont tell the
truth for example.
d) Definition
of Oath - Smith's Bible Dictionary - Oath The principle on which
an oath is
held to be binding is
incidentally laid down
in Hebrews
6:16,
viz. as an
ultimate appeal to divine authority to ratify an assertion. On the
same principle, that oath hasalways been held most binding which appealed
to the highest authority, as regards
both individuals and
communities. As
aconsequence of this
principle, appeals to God's name on the one
hand, and to heathen deities on the other, are treated in scripture as tests of
allegiance. Exodus 23:13; 34:6; 29:12,
etc.
So also the
sovereign's name is sometimes used as
a form of obligation. Genesis
42:15; 2 Samuel 11:11; 14:19. Other forms of oath, serious or frivolous, are mentioned, some of which
are condemned by our Lord.
Matthew
6:33; 23:16-22,
and see James
5:12.
(There is, however, a world-wide difference between a
solemn appeal to God and profane
swearing.)
The forms of
adjuration mentioned in
Scripture are —
1. Lifting
up the hand. Witnesses laid their hands on the head
of the accused. Genesis
14:22;
Leviticus 24:14; 17:7;
Isaiah 3:7.
2. Putting
the hand under
the thigh of the person to
whom the Promise was
made. Genesis 24:2; 47:29.
3. Oaths
were sometimes taken before the altar, or, as some understand the passage, if the persons
were
not in
Jerusalem,
in a position looking toward the temple. 1 Kings 8:31; 2 Chronicles 6:22.
4. Dividing a victim
and passing between or distributing the pieces. Genesis
15:10,17; Jeremiah 34:18.
As the
sanctity of
oaths
was carefully inculcated by the law, so the crime
of perjury was strongly condemned; and to a false witness the
same punishment was assigned
which was due for the crime to
which he testified. Exodus 20:7; Leviticus 19:12.

a) Matthew
5:38 - Of
Old, Eye For an Eye -
(See Ex
21:24,
& Lev 24:20) - In the Old testament, God did allow
revenge for example if a person caused an accident that took out your eye, he
was allowed to take out one of
your eyes, but often, the Jews
and even some early Christians
did more than that to revenge
them selves of injury done to
them.
b) Matthew
5:39a - Do
not Resist a Evil Person -
This meaning is the same as do
not return evil for evil, do not
use revenge
or outrage to the other person even though they use evil against
us, if we do, we become just as
evil hearted as the other person
that has done evil to us.
c) Matthew
5:39b-41 - Give the
extra to him -
These scriptures are regarding
persecution towards us because
we are
Christians. So if some one hits us on one cheek,
then turn the other cheek to let
him hit the other one, or if
someone wants to sue us for our shirt, then we should
give to him our jacket or coat
as well, And let us not
be
other wise even in
our private lives, because resentment and hatefulness, (Strife)
starts up if we do.
d) Matthew
5:42 - Let
him Borrow from you -
This is referring to those who
are in need, that through our
Love
to the Lord and to our neighbor we shall have compassion on the
poor, those in need, that we
shall treat them with kindness,
& respect,
we must not insult them when we let them borrow from us, and this
is showing love to our Neighbor,
and letting the light of Jesus
Christ shine. |
