Two Greatest Commandments

Introduction - The "Two Greatest Commandments" (Deuteronomy 6:5, Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:34-40) that I

call the Laws of Love are the most important scriptures of the entire bible.  Even more important than the "Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17)" them selves!  Since Jesus Christ said Loving God and Loving Neighbor are

the greatest commandments, and that all of the OT/NT laws and Prophets hang on those "Two Greatest

Commandments".  Friend even the Jewish People did not understand that is all about Love, doing unto others

as you would have them do to you (Matthew 7:12)!  And we don't want to forget that Love does no Harm

(Romans 13:10), for LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW (ROMANS 13:8-10)!

The Following text below is being rewritten

teaching.  I am truly sorry for the inconvenience

that this has caused you.  Please check back at a

1) Law is Good if Interpreted According to Its True Meaning - 1 Timothy 1:8;

2) Purpose of the Law - Gal 3:19-25;

3) Love is Fulfillment of the Law - Romans 13:8-10

4) All of the Laws and Prophets hang on these - Matthew 22:40;

As far as the "Two Greatest Commandments", "The Ten Commandment's" and the law's, the

Prophets and LOVE gets so many confused especially since many looks at the laws of God the same way that

the Jewish people did to which that has always angered God and Jesus Christ.  The following scripture will give

you a general idea of what I am talking about.

The "Two Greatest Commandments" is a brief summary of the Entire Bible as I call the Laws of Love!

As Jesus Christ has said All of the law and prophets (THE OT) hangs on these 2 commandments (MT 22:40).  Again

Jesus said; Do unto others, this is the law and the prophets (MT 7:12) and again Jesus said he did not come to

destroy the law or the prophets (MT 5:17a).  You see my friend most of the Jewish People did not understand that it is

Did You know that Paul said OUR FAITH UPHOLDS THE LAW and Paul said our Faith does not overthrow the law?  As It is written; Romans 3:31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

Here Jesus Christ upholds the law by commanding us to obey the two greatest commandments to which is a brief summary of the Ten commandments, (SEE THE OUTLINE BELOW) to which Jesus said; All of the law and prophets (THE OT) hangs on these 2 commandments (MT 22:40).  Again Jesus said; Do unto others, this is the law and the prophets (MT 7:12) and again Jesus said he did not come to destroy the law or the prophets (MT 5:17a). The 2 Greatest commandments is a brief summary of the Ten Commandments, that is the entire New Testament and the Old Testament is based off of and I call that "THE LAWS of LOVE".  THE JEWS DID NOT UNDERSTANDTHAT EITHER my friend!

Let us Pray - Dear Heavenly Father in your name, the name of the son and in the name of the Holy Spirit we ask that you open up our hearts and minds and souls to your Holy Words of this teaching so that we may learn it and apply them to our daily lives and we also pray that we may never forsake your Holy Words for the vain ideas and evilness of mankind.  And we ask in your Holy name that if we have ever done such evilness against you to forgive us of our sins against you. In your Holy Name, in the name of the Son and of the Holy Spirit AMEN

First Off Let us Look at the (Outline) of the Laws of Love Carefully. And then after that see the teaching below the Outline.

AND DON'T FORGET WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH MY FRIEND - You MAY MISUNDERSTAND THIS TEACHING!

Outline (Laws of Love)

LOVE GOD - Exodus 20:3-11, & Deuteronomy 6:5 & MT 22:37-38-

MT 22:37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with

all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'*  38 This is the first and great commandment.

1.   (Exodus 20:3)        You have No other Gods

2.   (Exodus 20:4-6)     You shall not make for your self an Idol

3.   (Exodus 20:7)         You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God

4.   (Exodus 20:8-11   Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it Holy, "You Shall Not Do any Work"

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR - Exodus 20:12-17, Leviticus 19:18 & MT 22:39 -

MT 22:39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

5.   (Exodus 20:12)      Honor Your Father and Mother

6.   (Exodus 20:13)      You Shall Not Murder

7.   (Exodus 20:14)      You Shall Not Commit Adultery

8.   (Exodus 20:15)      You Shall Not Steal

9.   (Exodus 20:16)      You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

10.  (Exodus 20:17)       You Shall Not Covet.........

MT 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

AND DON'T FORGET WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH MY FRIEND -

You MAY MISUNDERSTAND THIS TEACHING!

Not Under Law many say? - We are saved through Gods Grace, his Loving Kindness, By our Faith in Jesus Christ my friend.  But Because of Gods Grace then do have permission to SIN and do what ever we please?  GOD FORBID NO! For if we practice sinning, then Jesus Christ will say to us; Matthew 7:23 And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'  (LAWLESSNESS Means those who Practices sin). FRIEND Gods Grace Does Not give us permission to do as we please, it never did!

So they still say we are not under law as if Jesus Christ got rid of the law and prophets?  And Yet Jesus said; Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them.......... Now many of christians seems to ONLY pay attention to the words after these words and completely ignore what Jesus said I have not come to abolish them!  I believe the reason why so many of christians completely ignore that scripture is because they want to turn Gods Grace into a License to sin, to do evil and live as they please!

So IT IS WRITTEN ABOUT THEM Jude 4 .................They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.

STILL They Say We Are Not Under Law AS IF WE CAN DO AS WE PLEASE AND SIN LIKE CRAZY?????

I guess they have not understood Paul's teachings in Romans regarding the Law, Faith and Grace.  They evidently have not read Romans 3:21-31 very well yet dealing with "Gods Righteousness Through Faith" especially the very end of Paul's teaching on that when he said Romans 3:31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

So then when Paul said earlier in Romans 6:15 shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace did he mean?

Adam Clarkes Commentary puts it very well on what Paul meant on Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

[Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace?] Shall we abuse our high and holy calling because we are not under that law which makes no provision for pardon, but are under that Gospel which has opened the fountain to wash away all sin and defilement? Shall we sin because grace abounds? Shall we do evil so that good may come of it? This be far from us!

CONTINUED - Now my friend this cover Paul's teaching regarding the Law some more in the following section of this page

#1 The Purpose of the Law (Ten Commandments)  The law first off shows us what sin is.  As Apostle Paul said; Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. NKJV  If it was not for the law, we would not what adultery, bearing false witness, Idolatry and etc eve was and the wickedness involved.  So if we did know the law then we would not know what sin was, what wickedness is and then we would have sinned against God and our neighbors with out any knowledge of what we were doing since we are born with a desire to do evil rather than good.  And if we do not realize that we have sinned against God, then how could we realize our need for a savior (Jesus Christ)?  And then how can we repent of our sins, if we do not know that we have sinned against God?

#2, God has written his Holy Laws on Our hearts for those that are Saved through Jesus Christ to further prove that the laws of God still apples but on our hearts of flesh instead of stone, so that by the Holy Spirit we may obey our Lord Jesus Christ by loving him and by loving our neighbor; as it is written; Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

And so after Jesus Christ is crucified for our sins and raise from the dead, as in the following "after those days" meaning when Christ Gospel starts after he raises from the dead;  it is written; Hebrews 10:116 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," 17 then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more."

#3, if it was not for the law we would not come to Jesus Christ in True repentance.  As it is written; Galatians 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. NKJV  It is the Law of God that brings people to salvation, not that phony and unbiblical Modern Evangelism that was started by the false person, a Mr. Finney of the 1800's in America.  So then the law is also perfect for bringing people to salvation, showing us our need for a savior.  And as it is written: Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; NKJV

#4, the Law shows us and teaches us how to LOVE God and LOVE our neighbor!  I call the laws "THE LAWS OF LOVE.  The Law is LOVE, it is sweetness to the heart and the mind.  God does not want us to go against him and hurt him, and neither does God want us to hurt each other (our neighbors) or our enemies either!  IT IS THE LAWS OF LOVE!  In other words, if we love God, we will not worship other Gods, and if we love God, we will not use his name in vain.  And if we love our neighbor, we will not covet our neighbors wife or things.  If we love our neighbor, we will not kill him or lie to him for example.

#5, Now my friend the (Ten Commandments) is a complete layout of the (Two Greatest Commandment's) to which is a brief summary of the (Ten Commandments).  And what did Jesus say about the (Two Greatest Commandments)?  He said; Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets .  So then is the law abolished and if it is abolished then is Love also abolished? GOD FORBID, NO!  I say NO it is not abolished.  Jesus said the laws and the prophets are not abolished, as it is written; Matthew 5:17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them ............  Jesus Christ with his Love for God and us, he Fulfilled NOT abolished the law and the prophets.  The law and the prophets is all about Love my friend not a bunch of strict do's and don'ts per say. So then my friend LOVE IS THE FULFILLMENT OF THE LAW< NOT THE DESTRUCTION OF IT!  It is like putting the final touch on a dinner that you have prepared for a special guest.  You didn't get rid of the dinner by adding that final touch to it. No you completed the dinner.

#6, Friend even though the law it self doesn't save us (Gal 2:16), because all have broken the laws of God, and all have sinned against God (Ro 3:23)! (See Ro 7).  So friend because we are saved by grace, and we are no longer under the law (ceremonial laws), does that mean we no longer have to show love to God through Jesus Christ and show love to our neighbor?  CERTAINLY NOT!  God Forbid!  The laws are still in force BUT in our hearts and our minds Hebrews 8:10, and we still are expected to obey from our hearts and our minds.  So them through our faith in Jesus Christ.  As it is written; Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. "The Laws of Love-

Ten Commandments, still applies but it is now from our Hearts and minds not from a outward act as the Jews did.  So my friend beware of your freedom in Christ that you think you are free to do as you please, As it is written; Jude 4 They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. NIV  So in your new freedom you may be denying Christ himself thinking with a wrong hearts and motives that you can live as you please, and that will endanger your soul my friend as Jesus Christ has said;

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

and Jesus Christ said;

Luke 6:46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?
