1) Led
by the Spirit, Not Under Law
Gal 5:16-18
My friend in studying "Walking
in the Spirit" (Galatians
5:16-26) always
remember that Jesus Christ said
the
Spirit is willing, but the
flesh is weak (Matthew
26:41).
But never contain a evil heart
by using that scripture as an
excuse to sin though. Now even
though our weak flesh at times
gets tempted to sin, we have the
Holy Spirit that give us the
power to not commit that sin, to
have an escape from sin (1
Corinthians 10:13).
The flesh that lust against the
Spirit are complete opposites of
each other (Galatians
5:17).
The weak flesh encourages us to sin and to do evil, but the
Spirit of Christ, the Holy
Spirit encourages us to do what
is right, to obey God, to live
Holy and Righteous Lives! So my friend if we let the Holy
Spirit control us (Led
by The Spirit)
instead of us grieving the Holy
Spirit (Eph
4:25-32)
in disobedience we are not
under the Mosaic Law that
only brings us death, for the
law can not change our sinful
hearts (Romans
7:13-25)!
It is our Faith in Christ (Acts
26:18)
and being led by his Spirit that
keeps us from being under the
law that no man is able to obey
(Gal
5:18).
I mean this, that if we break
any of the Mosaic Law's even one
time, then we are permanent
transgressors of the Law (Ro
2:27, James 2:11)
and if we break one law, we have
broken all of the laws!
And being led by the Spirit also
means that we are not worldly,
nor carnal (Ro
8:7, 1Co 3:1-4, 3:18,
Titus
2:11-15)
. Our views, and ways are not
as this world is, for we are not
partakers with demons and God
both .(1
Co 10:21)
We can only love one and hate
the other (Matthew
6:24)
.
2) But
The Works of the flesh are
evident, which are;
Galatians
5: 19-21
a) Adultery;
A Married person who has an
affair (sexual relations) with
someone that is not their
spouse.
(Beware of

Adulterous Heart)

c) Uncleanness; That
which is not pure, not holy,
which is a impure heart, mind,
or even unclean foods as
stated
in the OT.
d) Lewdness; Preoccupation
with sex and
sexual desire; lust (Judges
20:6; Hosea 2:10; 6:9; Romans
13:13).
The Hebrew
word translated as
lewdness means an evil plan, purpose, or scheme; a
wicked thought,
especially with reference to
sexual unchastity;
ideas and practices that are
indecent and disgraceful. (From
Nelson
Bible Dictionary)
e) Idolatry; To
which is a direct worship of
other so called gods, rather
than our one God himself. (See
OT
for details)
f) Sorcery; (I.E. MAGIC) Occult practices,
such as
fortune-telling
and witchcraft,
which were common
among
the pagan
nations of the
ancient world.
But such attempts to control evil
spirits
were expressly forbidden to the Hebrew
people. Deuteronomy
18:10-11 mentions
the following
specific occult practices
which were forbidden by the law
of Moses.
(From Nelsons
Bible Dictionary).
g) Hatred; This
covers many areas related to
Anger, Hatred, such as despising
others, wishing others harm,
or harming others etc.
h) Contentions; This
is people who are argumentative: frequently
engaging in and seeming to enjoy
arguments and disputes. (From MSN
Works Dictionary).
i) Jealousies; Being
Jealous of who others are, or of
what others have or able to do.
j) Outburst
of Wrath;
This refers to a person gets out
of control most likely with
there anger towards others
or towards something.
k) Selfish
Ambitions; This
is the act or thinking of
thinking more about your self
than others in showing no
love to them.
l) Dissensions; This
is about a disagreement that
leads up to a bitter conflict or
rivalry. Sometime these are
violent ones.
m) Heresies; In Titus
3:10 a "heretical person"
is one who follows his own
self-willed
"questions,"
and who
is to be avoided. Heresies
thus came
to signify self-chosen
doctrines
not emanating from God (2
Peter 2:1).
(From Easton's
Bible Dictionary)
n) Envy; A
feeling of resentment
and jealousy toward
another person
because of his possessions or
good
qualities Christians
are
warned
to guard
against the sin
of envy (Romans
13:13; 1 Peter 2:1).
(From Nelsons
Bible Dictionary)
o) Murder;
According to Biblical Scripture,
this meaning is murder from the
heart or an actual murder to
which is illegally killing
someone.
p) Drunkenness; This
drinking to a point of being
drunk, to where you are no
longer your sober self, we are
not allow any strong drink.
q) Revelries; Galatians
5:21 [Revellings] Koomoi.
Lascivious feastings, with obscene
songs, music,
etc.
(From
Adam Clarkes Commentary Notes)
r) The
Fruit of the Spirit (CHRISTIAN
ATTRIBUTES) -
The fruit of the Spirit is
actually Christian
Attributes,
that all (Saved) Born
Again Christians should have.
This is walking in the Spirit of
God. Those
that has the Spirit
of our Lord Jesus Christ. And
by walking in the Spirit we will
not be submitting to the
weak
flesh, but instead we shall be
submitting to God in all that we
say and do. So in all of that
we will not
be carnal nor
worldly. We will NOT be like the
world, instead we will be Christ
like!
3) But
the fruit
of the Spirit Galatians
5:22-23 (CHRISTIAN
ATTRIBUTES)
is;
a) love; A
intense desire to love God (MT
22:37-38)
for who he is and give us an
opportunity for salvation,
and
this also includes Loving
mankind (MT
22:39)
and desiring salvation for them
as well and that we do
good to
them for Love Fulfills the Law (Gal
5:7-13)
and all
of
the laws and prophets hand on
these
2 Commandments, (MT
22:40)
a) Love
God and b)
Love your neighbor (MT
22:36-40).
b) joy; This
is to rejoice that we now have
hope (Ro
5:2)
because of Gods kindness (Grace)
for us to have
salvation via
Jesus Christ, that
we are forgiven of our
wickedness. We now are not
going to get Gods wrath that we
so deserve (MT
3:7)..
c) peace; This
comes from our minds and hearts
knowing that we are pardoned
from our sins, that we are
accepted by Jesus Christ.
d) longsuffering; This
mainly means to "Be Patient",
that is patient with this wicked
world, its persecutions
towards
us, and its own wicked
ways and doings. We are to be
patient as God has been Patient
with us till
the time and day of
the Lord (Rapture) (MT
13:37-43, 24:30-31, 2Thess 2:3).
e) kindness; This
is the direct opposite of being
hateful. To be kind to others,
means to have patience with
them, to behave with good
manors towards others, even if
we disagree with them on any
subject. We can
kindly warn
people of their sins with a
loving and caring hearts, but
let us not be Hateful or
spiteful in doing so.
f) goodness; In
this Jesus told us to do good,
even to our enemies (MT
5:43-48, 6:1-4).
To do good to those
who hate us
reaps coals on
their heads and even a good
chance that could cause them to
come to salvation to Jesus
Christ because they see your
goodness
(MT
5:16) JN 3:21)
g) faithfulness; This
involves our faithfulness to
God, in keeping our faith in him
through Jesus Christ
regardless of what situations we are
in or what happens to us. We
are also to remain faithful to
God in what he has called us to
do in advancing the Kingdom of
our Lord Jesus Christ (MT
3:8, 10:13, 10:37-38, 13:1-9,
22:8, Lk 10:7, 21:36).
Then we must be faithful to
mankind such as our family, our
employers and such in what we
say and what we do and do not
break our promises (Dan
6:4, 1Co 4:2, 2Tim 2:2).
h) gentleness; Kindness,
consideration, a
spirit of fairness
and compassion.
The apostle
Paul declared
that
Christians should have
a spirit
of gentleness toward all
people (Philippians
4:5; 2 Corinthians 10:1).
(From
Nelson's
Bible Dictionary)
i) self-control; Adam
Clarkes Bible Commentary covers
this very well - [Meekness] Prautees.
Mildness,
indulgence toward the
weak and
erring, patient suffering
of injuries without feeling
a spirit of revenge,
an even balance
of all tempers
and passions,
the entire opposite to
anger.[Temperance
Engkrateia. Continence,
self-government, or
moderation,
principally with regard to sensual
or animal appetites. Moderation
in eating, drinking, sleeping,
etc. Several
very respectable
MSS., as D*EFG,
with the Vulgate,
most copies of the
Itala and several
of the Fathers, add
hagneia, chastity.
This we are sure cannot
be separated from the genuine Christian
character,
though it may be included in the word engkrateia, continence
or moderation,
immediately preceding.
j) Against
such there is no law; Adam
Clarkes Bible Commentary also
covers this very well - Those,
whose
lives are adorned by the
above
virtues,
cannot be condemned by any law, for the whole purpose and design
of the
moral law
of God is
fulfilled in those
who have the Spirit
of God, producing in their hearts
and lives the preceding fruits.
By Darryl
of this website > For
all of the above attributes are
about love and it is Love that
fulfills the law.
So if you
show love with your heart,
actions and words you have
fulfilled the law with your love
as Jesus
Christ has fulfilled
the Law with his love (Mt
5:17, Mk 12:31,
Ro 13:8, Gal 6:2).
4) Crucify
the Flesh Galatians
5:24-25
As True Believers in Jesus
Christ we no longer live by our
fleshly desires, by its nature
to sin, with its many
forms of
wickedness. We put
away the old man (Romans
6:6),
the desires to sin, and the
actions of sin. So
since we put
away the Old Man of Sin we walk
in the spirit by crucifying all
that sins against the Spirit of
God.
We no longer live by our
weak emotions that wages war
against the spirit of God
either. For the Spirit of
God
is not worldly nor, carnal, it
can not ever be of the world and
the ways of mankind. So let us
show in
our lives and ourconversations that the spirit of
God lives in us.
5) Do
not become Conceited Galatians
5:26
Let us not think of our selves
more than we actually are (Romans
12:3).
So lets us not be arrogant,
because of our financial status,
position, knowledge, or
genealogy and so on. Instead
let us always be humble, walk in humility (Unity through
Humility-Phil
2:1-4, Humility
Cures Worldliness-James
4:7-10). So friend if we become conceited
as TV preachers do we will provoke those that are
not of the Faith, like
the false
teachers (TV Evangelist) of
today does, with
their greediness, their arrogant
pride as if they deserve
heaven
more than others do, as if they
have never sinned. Their lack
of compassion and understanding
just
blows my mind for sure.
And then with that the conceited
also becomes stumbling blocks to
our brothers
and sisters (Romans
14:13, 1Co 8:9)
in Jesus Christ just as well to
which divides the Body of Jesus
Christ instead of uniting the
Body of Jesus Christ (1Co
12:1-31).
